The Kuomintang (KMT), the main opposition party which controls the Legislative Yuan with its allies, has acquired a renewed sense of power and momentum ahead of its leadership race. The party squashed efforts to unseat more than two dozen of its lawmakers, and has clashed with the government over policies on foreign affairs, defence, energy and security. This panel involving prominent politicians and insiders looks at the upcoming contest to snatch the crown of the party – the oldest in East Asia – and the implications for Taiwan and the world.
The event is open to TFCC members only and will require prior registration.
We will be joined by Cheng Li-Wun, former legislator and Executive Yuan spokesperson, and Tso Chen-Dong, former director of Mainland Affairs at the KMT and foreign affairs adviser to the party’s 2024 presidential candidate Hou You-yi. The discussion will be moderated by TFCC chair and Nikkei Asia correspondent Thompson Chau.
Non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided.
