On January 23, 2025, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club (TFCC) hosted a panel discussion at the GIS Ministry of Transportation Conference Center in Taipei. The event, titled “How Can Taiwan Navigate a World Shaped by Putin, Trump, and Xi?”, brought together experts to explore Taiwan’s challenges and opportunities in a rapidly shifting global order.

Panelists included:

  • Amb. Katharine Chang, Former Taiwan envoy to the U.K. and Australia; Former Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council and Chair of the Straits Exchange Foundation
  • Jakub Janda, Director, European Values Center for Security Policy
  • Hsiao-chuan Liao, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, NTU

The discussion was moderated by Thompson Chau, TFCC President, and covered topics such as the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, regional tensions in East Asia, trade negotiations, and Taiwan’s diplomatic strategies amidst evolving power dynamics involving Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping.
