We are excited to announce that Professor Anthony H. Yeh will be the featured speaker at our upcoming TFCC x ATJ event, where he will give a talk entitled “Transitional Justice Delayed: Taiwan’s Ongoing Struggle with Chiang Kai-shek’s Legacy.”

Despite years of efforts by both civil society and government to advance transitional justice, Chiang Kai-shek’s influence remains deeply embedded in Taiwan. His statue continues to watch over Taipei’s Liberty Plaza, his image graces coins and banknotes, and his name is featured on major streets across the country. Even 50 years after his death, the Generalissimo’s legacy still looms large. In his talk, Professor Yeh will explore what Taiwan has achieved so far in addressing this complex legacy, and what challenges still lie ahead.

About the speaker:
Anthony H. Yeh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at National Chengchi University and the President of Taiwan’s Hannah Arendt Society. Holding a PhD in Political Science and an MA in Philosophy from the London School of Economics, he has published extensively on democratic theory and transitional justice. His recent monograph, A Politics of Difference (政治時差.時差政治:敘事共時性作為民主政治的一種想像), reflects his deep engagement with these issues.
