
This month’s TFCCxATJ Talk on Friday, November 28, will feature independent researcher Mattias Daly and Mirror TV international news reporter Lin Mei-chieh. Under the theme “To Be the Power Behind the Shrine: China’s United Front Work Targeting Religion in Taiwan and the West,” the speakers will examine how China’s United Front system engages with and infiltrates religious communities in democratic societies. The session will be conducted in Mandarin.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Mattias Daly is an independent researcher who has studied Daoism, Buddhism, and Chinese history for more than twenty years. His publications include Ungrounded Certainty: The Methods, Texts, and False History of Sexual Inner Alchemy in the Scholarly Imagination (無中生有:學界想象中的陰陽丹法文本與虛構的歷史), and his translations include Ge Guolong’s Taoist Inner Alchemy as well as numerous publications for the National Palace Museum.
Lin Mei-chieh is an international news reporter at Mirror TV and previously worked at the World Journal and United Daily News. She specializes in international reporting and is increasingly writing about Taiwan in English to bring its stories to global audiences.
