The Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club will host longtime Taiwan journalist and former TFCC Vice President Chris Horton on Tuesday, February 3, for a conversation about his 2025 book Ghost Nation: The Story of Taiwan and Its Struggle for Survival. This event is organized with the support of the Memorial Foundation of 228.

Drawing on more than a decade of reporting in Taiwan and China, Ghost Nation tells the story of how this diplomatically isolated democracy has become a central player in global geopolitics. As tensions between Washington and Beijing continue to rise, the book offers a deeply reported and accessible account of Taiwan’s history, identity, and the stakes of its struggle for self-determination.

Chris will discuss the book’s main themes, his reporting process, and Taiwan’s place in today’s shifting international order, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
