President Lai Ching-te is approaching the end of his second year in office, and has prioritized defense and security reforms, support for emerging industries and strengthening relations with the U.S., Japan and other like-minded countries. But his tenure has so far been dominated by an intense showdown with the opposition-led legislature. Opposition legislators have sought to push for a different domestic and foreign policy agenda, and have repeatedly clashed with the administration on key budgets and security proposals. The panel discusses the progress and setbacks for Lai and his opponents as the administration reaches midpoint in its four-year term.

A small selection of refreshments will be provided.
