ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Patrick is a technology and business journalist focused on US–China relations, supply chains and hardware. His debut book, Apple in China, is a New York Times bestseller that received the SABEW Award for Best Business Book and was recognized as a top book of 2025 by Foreign Affairs, The New Yorker, and The New York Times.
The book draws on 200+ interviews to reveal how Apple’s supply chain in China has created an existential vulnerability, offering an insider’s historical account and a cautionary tale.
Patrick writes a twice-monthly column in The Free Press and is a contributor to the Financial Times, where he spent more than a decade on staff reporting from Hong Kong, Germany, and San Francisco.
His writing has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, the Sunday Times of London, The Wall Street Journal, China Books Review, and the Toronto Star.
