The Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club will be hosting Interior Minister Liu Shyh-fang for an exclusive briefing on March 25. Registration is necessary and will close next Wednesday (March 18) or once maximum capacity is reached.

The Ministry of Interior is Taiwan’s top government body in charge of homeland security, local government, household registration, land and building issues, policies for religions and swathes of home affairs. The ministry supervises agencies in charge of the police, fire fighting, immigration and other matters.

Before taking over the Ministry of Interior, Minister Liu served as a legislator, deputy Kaohsiung mayor, managing director of the World Games 2009 Kaohsiung Organizing Committee, deputy secretary general at the National Security Council as well as the Office of the President, and Secretary General of the Executive Yuan. She has a MS in Environmental Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Taiwan’s Tamkang University.
