




On February 17, 2025, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club hosted a panel discussion titled “Democracy Under Siege: Lessons from Canada and Taiwan on Foreign Interference and Media’s Role.” The event examined how democracies can defend against foreign interference and disinformation, secure critical infrastructure, and address challenges posed by the new Trump administration.
Panelists included:
• Stephanie Carvin – Associate Professor of International Relations at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs
• Jean-Christophe Boucher – Associate Professor at the University of Calgary
• Lynette Ong – Distinguished Professor of Chinese Politics at the University of Toronto
The session was moderated by David Demes, TFCC Vice President, and was held at the GIS Ministry of Transportation Conference Center.
