On November 13, 2024, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club (TFCC) hosted an insightful panel discussion at the Taipei Tech GIS Convention Center, titled “The Kuomintang at 130: What’s Next for East Asia’s Oldest Political Party?” The event featured prominent KMT lawmakers Jessica Chen Yu-jen (representing Kinmen), Hsu Chiao-hsin (Taipei constituency), and Weng Hsiao-ling (legislator-at-large).

Marking the 130th anniversary of the founding of the KMT’s precursor organization, the discussion explored the party’s historical legacy and its evolving role in Taiwan’s political landscape. Moderated by TFCC President Thompson Chau, the conversation covered a wide range of topics, including Taiwan’s relations with the United States during the Trump administration, cross-strait relations with China, and the KMT’s legislative priorities and vision for the future.

The event, conducted in Mandarin with simultaneous English interpretation, ensured accessibility for all TFCC members. Attendees actively participated in a dynamic Q&A session, engaging directly with the lawmakers and exploring their perspectives on critical issues.
