



On Thursday, July 18, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club (TFCC) hosted a panel discussion titled “Envisioning Taiwan’s Economic Prospects”. The event featured keynote speaker John Deng, Taiwan’s former Minister of Economic Affairs and Chief Trade Negotiator, who retired in May. Deng shared his experiences and perspectives on Taiwan’s economic outlook and trade policies.
The panel included Chyungly Lee, Professor of International Relations at National Chengchi University, Kristy Hsu, Director of the Taiwan ASEAN Studies Center at the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, and Cheng Ting-Fang, Chief Tech Correspondent for Nikkei Asia. The discussion was moderated by TFCC President Thompson Chau.
Topics covered included Taiwan’s trade strategies, its role in the global semiconductor industry, and the challenges posed by regional tensions. The event took place at the Liang Kuo Shu International Conference Hall at National Taiwan University and was attended by TFCC members, journalists, academics, and students.
