As part of our monthly TFCCxATJ Talk Series, the Association of Taiwan Journalists will be hosting Lee-feng Chien (簡立峰), former Managing Director of Google Taiwan, for a talk on Wednesday, March 25. Chien will explore the essence of “sovereign AI,” how the United States and China consolidate their dominance through technological monopolies, and why it is urgent for Taiwan to develop its own AI capabilities. The discussion will address digital sovereignty, its direct implications for national security and autonomous development. 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Lee-feng Chien is a renowned Taiwanese computer scientist, AI expert, and entrepreneur, best known for his role as the Managing Director of Google Taiwan. As Google Taiwan’s first employee, he played a key role in establishing Taiwan as Google’s R&D hub in the Asia-Pacific region and is celebrated as a pioneer of Chinese-language search technology. He is the author of Taiwan’s Big AI Future (台灣AI大未來) and Beyond Borders: The Future of Taiwanese Enterprises (出海:台灣企業大未來)
