This month’s TFCCxATJ talk is scheduled for April 16 and will feature a discussion on proposed amendments to Taiwan’s “Act Governing Relations with Hong Kong and Macau” and their potential implications for both national security and the lives of Hongkongers living in Taiwan.

As China continues to exert pressure on Taiwan through military threats and political influence, the Mainland Affairs Council announced in March that it intends to amend the law to address growing national security concerns. Meanwhile, since the 2019 anti-extradition protests, thousands of Hongkongers have relocated to Taiwan in search of greater freedom and safety.

For this conversation, we’re joined by two Hongkongers who have been living in Taiwan and are closely engaged with civil society:

  • Sky Fung, Secretary-General of Hong Kong Outlanders
  • Eric Poon, President of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Association

They’ll share their insights and engage in discussion with ATJ and TFCC members.
